Chess is a game which requires a lot of thinking, focus, and concentration. Though it is a quiet board game, one can lose self control when someone is very much into it.

Aron Nimzowitsch, a Russian born Danish grand-master was a well known board game player and influential chess writer. He was playing a game in Berlin against Friedrich Samisch, a German grand-master who was also a smart chess player. In the tournament, during the course of the competition when it was apparent that he was going to lose the game, Nimzowitsch threw a fit, jumped on the table and shouted, "Must I lose to this idiot!"

The lesson of the story is to always think before we react. We are not to easily give in to anger. Emotion is good but once it takes over our mind without self control, it can ruin us individual and hurt other people. It is always important to have our attitude in check. The writer of Proverbs puts it very well when he wrote, "It is better to be a patient person than a warrior,  one with self control than one who invades a city." (Proverbs 16:32)
